Peter M. Lehrer

Peter M. Lehrer is an internationally recognized and highly respected leader in managing large scale complex construction projects. Peter founded Lehrer, LLC, a firm which provides construction consulting and project management services to clients engaged in major development projects who rely on experience, tenacity, and the ability to find logical, strategic, and economic solutions to complex problems often not obvious to others. Peter has chaired several commissions for government focused on reducing costs and improving efficiency for large multi-billion dollar capital programs.   In 1979, he co-founded Lehrer McGovern, Inc., a construction management firm that consistently ranked as one of the top largest construction companies in the country. In 1988 the firm was merged into Bovis Ltd., (London) an international construction firm and Peter became Vice Chairman of Bovis, Ltd., and Chief Executive Officer of all U.S. based subsidiary companies. Peter was responsible for managing one of the largest construction management firms in the country with a staff of 2000 professionals and responsible for billions of dollars of work annually.   Previous projects include the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, Euro Disneyland (Paris), Canary Wharf (London), the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Grand Central Station, the rebuilding of Ben Gurion and La Guardia Airports, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Princeton University, Cornell University, and major healthcare building programs for New York Presbyterian Hospital, St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital,  plus thousands of highly complex visible projects for both the private and public sectors.

Gavin A. Middleton is a Design and Construction Executive with 25 years of real estate development and project management experience throughout North America, the Caribbean and Europe. He brings to the Lehrer team a background in planning, developing and executing industry-leading projects across a comprehensive variety of asset classes. These include luxury urban hotels, beach resorts, high-rise condominiums, mid- and high-rise office buildings and industrial business parks.   Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, Gavin oversaw construction and development activity for Starwood Capital Group as the SVP, Construction and Development. Earlier in his career, Gavin was a Partner and Vice President of Engineering and Construction Services for CPI Capital Partners North America, Citigroup’s opportunistic real estate fund business, which he joined at its inception after an eight-year tenure helping to manage the firm’s real estate portfolio.

Rejoining Peter M. Lehrer from Lehrer McGovern Bovis, Inc., Norbert provides Lehrer, LLC clients with strategic planning, business transformation and project controls experience and knowledge and leverages his 40-year experience and understanding of the New York City, US and global design and construction industry. Norbert’s specific focus is guiding clients in leveraging project controls as well as virtual design and construction (BIM) applications and processes.   Norbert was President of McGraw-Hill Construction (MHC) from 1999 until 2009. Comprised of such prestigious brands as Dodge, Sweets, Architectural Record and Engineering News-Record Regional Publications, MHC serves as the leading source of project news, product information, industry analysis and editorial coverage. Under Norbert’s direction, MHC served as the leading provider of print and electronic products and information services to the $5.2 trillion global industrial, commercial and residential construction industry.   Prior to joining McGraw-Hill, he spent eight years with the Bovis Construction Group, a global leader in the management of high profile construction projects. In 1994, he was appointed president for the newly created Bovis Management Systems (BMS), which was established to serve the construction and project management needs for both private and public sector clients on a national, as well as global basis, with experience in over 17 countries. Notable clients and projects which benefited from his involvement and oversight include the 1996 Summer Olympic Games, Bank of America, NYNEX (now Verizon) and Sun Microsystems.

David brings more than 25 years of extensive experience in managing complex projects to Lehrer, LLC. David is leading the team at the Jacob K. Javits Center expansion as Project Director on behalf of NY State Empire State Development, driving construction through all phases including planning, execution and completion.   He joins us most recently from the Art Institute of Chicago, where he was responsible for all operational aspects of the museum as Chief Operating Officer. David also held numerous leadership roles at the New York Times, including Senior Vice President for Operations, Chief Information Officer and Vice President for Real Estate Development.   David holds an A.B. from Harvard College and a J.D. from New York University school of law. He is active in various architectural organizations including the Architectural League of New York and the American Institute of Architects.

David Andril

David is a Project Manager with deep experience in asset management related to public-private partnerships, finance, and development. He joins the firm after spending six years at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey working on the World Trade Center redevelopment. David holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from New York University, and a MBA from NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He is a member of the NYC chapter of the Urban Land Institute.

As Senior Project Manager, Doug is an integral part of large projects, such as the Javits Center expansion. Doug brings extensive experience managing complex construction projects in New York City to Lehrer, LLC. Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, Doug coordinated and implemented capital projects at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s World Trade Center Construction Department. He also worked on several notable projects including the Hudson Yards development, 7-line subway extension, the Javits Center expansion, and lower Manhattan rebuilding efforts in 2003-2006 as part of the New York State Executive Chamber, collaborating with federal, state and local officials to develop and support the State’s infrastructure priorities in New York City. Doug holds a B.A. from The University of Richmond.

Stephen has been a real estate and construction consultant for more than a decade, spending his career focused on the New York metro area. As Senior Project Manager at Lehrer, LLC, Stephen will leverage his experience guiding owners through new building developments and complex fit-outs to advise our clients on all facets of the building process from pre-construction through punch list. He holds a Master of Science in Real Estate & Strategic Real Estate Management from New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bryant University.

As Marketing Manager, Elissa is responsible for all public-facing material development and public relations/communications at Lehrer, LLC. She works with Project leads to assist with proposal and presentation production, and execution. Elissa manages the firm’s digital platforms, newsletters, and project information sheets. Previously, Elissa worked in several capacities at the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, most recently as a Marketing Manager responsible for the project management of corporate and private sponsorships. She received a BA in English, Rhetoric and Global Culture from Binghamton University.

David Deighton

As Project Director, David focuses on client management and provides support to the Lehrer, LLC executive team. He is currently leading the firm’s work at Rockefeller University’s new River Campus, a 5-block laboratory research building atop the FDR Drive. David provides day-to-day guidance to Rockefeller’s team; navigating them through complex planning, permitting, logistical and construction processes. He previously led Lehrer, LLC’s work at the newly-constructed Whitney Museum of American Art on Gansevoort Street, a $260 million project designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. David brings extensive national and international experience in the design and construction industry on behalf of Owners to Lehrer, LLC. He served as project manager on numerous developments including the Four Seasons Hotels in Barbados and London, the Baha Mar redevelopment of Cable Beach in the Bahamas, and the Canary Wharf construction. David holds an MBA in Management from the University of Hull, and a National Certificate in Building, Engineering, and Electrical Installations from the College of North-East London.

Alyssa DeMartino

As Executive Assistant, Alyssa provides direct support to the COO and EVP at Lehrer, LLC. She is responsible for various administrative tasks including scheduling, correspondence, office organization and more. Additionally, Alyssa provides general support for the project teams. Previously, Alyssa worked in several administrative capacities at Ralph Lauren and Forbes, most recently supporting the Chief Merchandising Officer at Ralph Lauren. She received a BA in Marketing from the University of Miami.

Tom Evans

Tom is a veteran builder of complex construction projects with experience in project management, client relations and team leadership. His focus is on extensive renovation and reconstruction of hospitality projects, namely large hotels and residences, and working with project teams to maintain full business operations. As such, Tom is managing Lehrer, LLC's work at The Surf Club, a Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences in Miami Beach, FL. Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, Tom spent more than twenty years coordinating and executing construction projects across the country, with numerous projects in Florida, Maryland, Texas, Virginia and Washington D.C. He studied Business Administration at Holland College on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Kate Farewell

As Project Director, Kate provides support to the Lehrer, LLC executive team, with nearly 20 years of experience directing capital programs from the owner's perspective. She is currently leading numerous projects, with a particular focus on educational and cultural institutions; including the Jewish Theological Seminary, Sarah Lawrence College, New York Public Library, and Ethical Culture Fieldston School. Kate has extensive academic experience, most recently guiding special projects at Princeton University and asset preservation projects for Wellesley College. Her career prior to Lehrer, LLC spanned a total of five campuses with Aramark Engineering Solutions and included two years with STV Construction Inc. as design manager for the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center. Kate received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University and is a licensed professional engineer.

Heather Fuhrman

Heather Fuhrman is an accomplished Project Manager skilled at project team coordination with a proactive approach to problem solving and an emphasis on developing innovative solutions to design and construction challenges. At Lehrer, LLC, Heather is leading a portfolio of projects for Eataly, USA; at 4 WTC in New York City, Prudential Center Mall in Boston, and Century City Mall in Los Angeles. She advises and oversees the coordination of the architectural, engineering, and construction teams for the interior fit-outs, with a construction budget of $100 million. As a Registered Landscape Architect, Heather previously worked for a design firm overseeing the Tribeca segment of Hudson River Park, a $130 million project that transformed Piers 25 & 26 and 1.5-mile long stretch of upland into a waterfront park, providing public access to New York City’s waterfront while incorporating passive and active recreational programming. Heather received a BA in Political Science/Public Administration from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from CUNY-The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture. She is a Registered Landscape Architect in NYS and a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects. Heather has received numerous awards such as the CCNY School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design “Best Thesis” award in 2008, and has contributed to several publications.

Max brings a passion for client engagement and the built environment, coupled with experience in construction project management and financial analysis, to Lehrer, LLC. He is currently working on the 150,000 square-foot River Campus at Rockefeller University in many capacities; including liaising with the general contractor to track and control project schedules and budgets, collaborating with design teams and consultants to facilitate LEED documentation, and managing permitting and environmental compliance requirements. Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, Max was a Project Manager at MechoSystems, working on notable projects such as Condé Nast at One World Trade Center and the University of California San Francisco Medical Center. He is a LEED AP BD+C professional. Max received a BA in Marketing Communications from Emerson College, and an MS in Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management from The New School.

Matthew is an experienced Project Manager in both the construction and technology industries, with a focus on commercial construction management. Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, he worked as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Superintendent on projects in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Matthew received a Bachelor of Applied Science in Construction Management with Honours from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He holds a Yellow Belt in Lean Six Sigma, is a LEED-accredited professional, and is a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Veronica brings more than twenty years of experience in administration to Lehrer, LLC. She is responsible for office operations including daily office systems, expense management, human resource management, financial reporting and directly supporting the Chairman. Veronica also provides support and assistance to the Lehrer, LLC team. Most recently, Veronica worked in operations for a private equity firm. She provided administrative support to and enhanced the effectiveness of the Managing Partner, who was seeing personal net worth grow three-fold. She created, maintained, and tracked financial records, managed the office, and collaborated in reviewing existing and potential investments. Veronica holds a BA in Accounting and Economics from Queens College.

Arnold is a Director at Lehrer, LLC with an extensive background in architecture, design and project management across a wide range of building types. He is currently leveraging his experience in leading project teams and consultants, blending design with technology, sustainability and engineering, at the Jacob K. Javits Center expansion. As an architect, Arnold previously held various positions at prominent design firms including Pelli Clarke Pelli, HoK and Pei Cobb Freed Partners. Arnold received his B.S. Arch with Honors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a M. Arch. I with Distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is affiliated with many industry organizations including the American Institute of Architects, the Municipal Art Society of New York and the Urban Land Institute.

Katrina is the receptionist at Lehrer, LLC, providing day-to-day administrative and front-office support. She is responsible for managing and directing incoming phone calls, scheduling meetings, and overseeing the office inventory, in addition to various other tasks. Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, Katrina was an administrative assistant and a sales consultant. She holds a BA in English Literature from the City College of New York.

As Senior Project Manager, RJ applies his strong background in client relations and project management to Lehrer, LLC. RJ is currently advising Barnard College through the design and construction of a new 130,000 square-foot Teaching and Learning Center in the heart of its Morningside Heights campus in Manhattan. He previously guided the New York Public Library in the expansion and renovation of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem and the design and construction of a new flagship branch on 53rd Street. RJ’s experience prior to joining Lehrer, LLC includes several roles in real estate; including Business Development Director at a premier real estate investment and management company in NYC. He was also responsible for overseeing the operation of more than 70 residential and mixed-use properties in Manhattan, guiding operational compliance, along with fiscal and structural health of the portfolio. RJ received a BA from the University of Connecticut, and an MBA in Finance; Entrepreneurship and Innovation from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a member of the New York Building Congress, the Urban Green Council, and the UGC Emerging Professionals Committee. He is a LEED AP professional.

Mary brings a multifaceted background in design and construction management to Lehrer, LLC. She is currently leading the firm’s work on two educational institutions; the Brooklyn Law School and Ethical Culture Fieldston School. Her experience in construction project management includes all facets of the building process from pre-construction through punch list, as well as managing client and stakeholder relations within large and complex projects. Prior to joining Lehrer, LLC, Mary worked on notable New York City projects Hudson Yards Tower B and the Work Trade Center Transportation Hub in a project management role. In addition to construction, Mary has worked as an architectural designer on a variety of residential and hospitality projects in Oregon and New York. Mary holds a BA in Philosophy from Loyola University, New Orleans, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon. She is an Assoc. AIA and a LEED-AP.

Dareen Salama

Dareen Salama is a project controls specialist with a background in construction and civil engineering, and Lehrer, LLC's Director of Technical Services. She has lectured extensively throughout North America on BIM, Autodesk, construction management and project controls, and has contributed to several publications for the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Construction Management Association of America. She has been a team member on many significant infrastructure projects across the country including LaGuardia Airport, and will support one of New York City's major infrastructure upgrade projects at the Jacob K. Javits Center expansion. Dareen holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering with a minor in Architecture from American University in Cairo, and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering & Construction Management from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In 2016, she was recognized by Consulting Specifying Engineers as a Top 40 Under 40 engineer, and by Engineering News Record as a Top 20 Under 40 Engineer in NYC. Dareen is also a visiting Assistant Professor in Project Controls at the Pratt Institute College of Architecture.

As Assistant Project Manager, Shesh focuses on supporting Lehrer, LLC’s client base and project management efforts. At Lehrer, LLC, his focus has been on institutional and cultural projects; including the Jewish Theological Seminary, and the New York Public Library’s Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the 53rd Street Flagship Branch. He’s responsible for tasks including tracking the progress of concrete construction activities, and assisting with coordinating subcontractors and vendors. Shesh holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Old Dominion University, and a MS in Construction Engineering & Management from Columbia University. He is a member of Columbia University’s Global Leaders in Construction Management, the Urban Land Institute of NYC, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Jason is a 16-year professional in the real estate development and construction industries, having worked in management positions on significant projects across New York City. He brings extensive experience in project management, cost management, sustainable building practices, and profit optimization; in order to improve operations and minimize risk for the Owner. At Lehrer, LLC, Jason is focused on the development of 25 Kent in Brooklyn. Jason most recently was a Senior Development Manager at a real estate development and investment company. For five years, he also worked as the program manager for the PANYNJ on the WTC redevelopment project. Jason received a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a MBA in Finance and Management from Forhdam University. He is a LEED-accredited professional, and a member of the US Green Building Council, Engineers Without Borders, and the Urban Land Institute.

As a Project Manager at Lehrer, LLC, Joe is focused on managing residential projects on behalf of the firm. He leverages his deep experience in the industry, previously working as a construction project manager for large residential and office towers in New York City. Joe brings to Lehrer, LLC not just experience in construction management, he also worked for several years as an associate architectural designer.  Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, a Masters of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Masters of Construction Management from Washington University in St. Louis.
